¿µ¹®³»¿ë¿ä¾à The Wearable computer is one of major technologies to make ubiquitous
computing environment feasible. Various researches on the wearable computer are
currently being carried out. One of such efforts is to build a communication network
on a clothes and to connect various devices embedded in the clothes. A
communication network which covers a body area in the wearable computing
environment is called the WPN(Wearable Personal Network). WPN may be
implemented by using either a wire line or wireless media. WPN using wireline is
specially called the e-Textile Network.
Most of the researches on the WPN are those which uses the wireless
communication technology from IEEE 802.15. Study on the wired WPN has not been
carried out enough worldwide. Therefore e-Textile Network needs standardization.
This standard specification defines the requirements, network topology and
protocol for the e-Textile Network which is a wired WPN embedded in a clothes.
Requirements are prescribed by analyzing the characteristics of e-Textile Network
environment. The bus network topology is used considering the requirements of
wired WPN. The protocol defined in this specification is a data link layer protocol
and is mainly for connecting peripheral devices to a host computing device. Both
the synchronous protocol and the asynchronous protocol are defined. Synchronous
protocol may be used in a nertwork where peripheral nodes do not have CSMA(Crrier
Sense Multiple Access) capability. This specification also prescribes a node
discovery protocol that can be used both for a network with CSMA and for a network
without CSMA accessing technology. The discovery protocol enables the host to
recognize and search for a node which is newly added to the network or removed
from the network without the users¡¯ intervention.
