According to this guideline, floating AtoN are equipped with various components such as radar reflectors, AIS, RACON, and solar panels to support navigational safety and are operated in accordance with SOLAS regulations and the IALA Maritime Buoyage System (MBS). To ensure the reliable operation and dependability of floating AtoN, it emphasizes the importance of addressing environmental factors (e.g., marine growth, extreme weather, and bird guano), resource considerations, and monitoring systems. This document analyzes the components, materials, colors, mooring systems, and maintenance strategies of floating AtoN, and references IALA recommendations and guidelines to assist AtoN providers and manufacturers in selecting and managing optimal AtoN tailored to navigational and environmental requirements.
