| 한글내용요약 | 한글의 세계화와 IT지식정보 문화시대를 견인하는 동력으로서 글꼴(폰트)은 컴퓨터의 보급과 더불어 디지털 환경에 중요 요인으로 인식되고 있다. 이러한 취지에서 한글 글꼴 조합형 특성에 맞고 교육현장과 실무에서 쉽게 사용할 수 있는 한글 글꼴이 가지는 코드 집합에 대해 정의한다.
기존 글꼴 코드 정의 방법은 한국산업규격인 KSX1001:2004, 국제코드규격인Unicode 7.0 등으로 국내 및 국제 표준안이 존재하며, 각각의 표준안이 상당한 양의 코드세트를 가지고 있다. KSX1001경우는 2바이트 부호체계로서, x2121 - x7E7E까지의 영역으로 8,836문자를 전체세트로 가지고 있으며, Unicode 7.0는 훨씬 방대하여 1,114,112 코드 포인트를 포함하고 있다. 따라서 한글 글꼴이 어느 코드 집합의 정의를 기준하여 제작되었느냐에 따라 한글 영역에서 조차도 2350자만 사용할 수 있거나 11172자를 모두 사용할 수 있게 된다. 한글뿐 아니라 한자, 특수문자, 영문 모든 문자영역에서 구분된다. 그러나 실제 글꼴제작사 또는 글꼴디자이너가 개발하는 한글글꼴의 90%이상이 위의 두 가지 코드집합에 정확히 일치하지 않으며, 개발 당시의 기술적 고려사항, 확장문자 필요에 따른 사용자 코드 지정, 특정분야의 사용자를 위한 사용편의성에 따라 다양한 코드 집합을 가지고 있다. 따라서 국내 대표 서체사들의 의견을 수렴하고 실제 대표 서체들을 분석하여 한글글꼴을 구분하는 기준이 되는 코드세트 기준안을 단계별 개발하여 이를 국내 표준으로 정의함으로써, 글꼴디자이너 및 일반사용자들이 코드세트 정의항목만으로도 충분히 그 글꼴이 가지고 있는 문자세트을 인지하고 활용할 수 있도록 표준안을 정리하였다. |

| 영문내용요약 | As the power to lead the IT knowledge and cultural era and globalization of Hangul, font has been recognized as an important factor in the digital environment, with the spread of computers. In this purpose, this standard defines the code set of Hangul fonts which is educational and easy-to-use in practice and fits the characteristics of the combined Hangul fonts.
Hangul fonts in the combination of these characteristics fit the definition and purpose for the code set with the Hangul fonts easy to use in the education and practice. Existing font code set definition rules exist in Korean Industrial Standard, KSX1001:2004 and International Code Standard, Unicode 7.0, domestically and internationally. And there are quite a lot of code sets respectively. KSX1001 has the whole set of 8,836 characters in the range of x2121 - x7E7E, and Unicode 7.0 has much more, including 1,114,112 code points. Therefore, when making Hangul fonts, publishable font characters vary from 2350 to 11172, based on the code set definition. As well as Hangul characters, the whole characters are classified such as Chinese, Latin, and special characters. However, 90 percent of Hangul fonts developed do not exactly match to the two code sets above. Font developers and designers have their several code sets. Thus, we gathered the opinions of the Korea’s leading font companies and analyzed the actual representative typefaces to develop code set steps for classifying Hangul fonts. By organizing it as a standard, font designers and users can distinguish character sets easily. |
