IEEE 802.16m Ç¥ÁØÀÇ ¹üÀ§´Â IEEE 802.16 WirelessMAN-OFDMA ±Ô°ÝÀÌ Çã°¡ ¹ÞÀº Á֯ļö ´ë¿ª¿¡¼­ Advanced Air Interface¸¦ Á¦°øÇϵµ·Ï °³¼±Çϴµ¥ ÀÖ´Ù. IEEE 802.16m Ç¥ÁØÀº ITU-RÀÇ IMT-Advanced radio interface Ç¥ÁØÀ¸·Î ÀÎÁ¤ ¹Þ±â À§ÇÑ ¼¿·ê·¯ °èÃþ ¿ä±¸ »çÇ×À» ¸¸Á·½ÃŰ´Â µ¿½Ã¿¡ ±âÁ¸ÀÇ IEEE 802.16 WirelessMAN Ç¥ÁØÀ» µû¸£´Â legacy WirelessMAN-OFDMA Àåºñµµ Áö¿øÇÒ ¼ö ÀÖµµ·Ï Ç¥ÁØÈ­°¡ ÁøÇàµÇ°í ÀÖ´Ù. ƯÈ÷ IEEE 802.16m Ç¥ÁØÀº °³¹ß ´Ü°è¿¡¼­ ´ÙÀ½°ú °°Àº ´Ù¼¸ °¡Áö ±âÁØÀ» Áö۵µ·Ï ¸í½ÃÇϰí ÀÖ´Ù.

¿Ï¼ºµÉ Ç¥ÁØÀº ³ÐÀº ½ÃÀå ÀáÀç·ÂÀ» °¡Áö°í ÀÖ¾î¾ß ÇÑ´Ù. ƯÈ÷ ³ÏÀº ÀÀ¿ë·Â(Broad sets of applicability)°ú ´Ù¼öÀÇ ¾÷ü¿Í »ç¿ëÀÚµé(Multiple vendors and numerous users)À» Áö¿øÇÒ ¼ö ÀÖ¾î¾ß Çϸç Àåºñ ºñ¿ëµµ ÀûÀýÇØ¾ß ÇÑ´Ù.

IEEE 802 Ç¥ÁØÀº ±âÁ¸ÀÇ IEEE 802.1 Ç¥ÁØÀÇ ±¸Á¶(Architecture), °ü¸®(Management), »óÈ£¿î¿ë(Interworking)¿¡ °üÇÑ Ç¥Áذú »óÃæ ¾øÀÌ Àß ºÎÇյǾî¾ß ÇÑ´Ù.

IEEE 802 Ç¥ÁØÀº °¢°¢ ¶Ñ·ÇÇÑ µ¶ÀÚ¼ºÀ» Áö³à¾ß¸¸ ÇÑ´Ù. À̸¦ À§ÇØ IEEE 802.16m Ç¥ÁØÀº ´Ù¸¥ IEEE 802 Ç¥Áذú Â÷º°¼ºÀ» °¡Á®¾ß Çϰí, ÇØ°áÇϰíÀÚ ÇÏ´Â ¹®Á¦¿¡ ´ëÇØ µ¶ÀÚÀûÀÎ ÇØ°á ¹æ¾ÈÀ» Á¦½ÃÇØ¾ß ÇÑ´Ù. ±×¸®°í Ç¥ÁØ ¹®¼­ÀÇ µ¶ÀÚµéÀÌ ½±°Ô ±Ô°ÝÀ» ¼±ÅÃÇÒ ¼ö ÀÖµµ·Ï ÀÚ¼¼ÇÑ ¹®¼­¸¦ Á¦°øÇØ¾ß ÇÑ´Ù.

IEEE 802.16m Ç¥ÁØÈ­ ÁøÇà ÇöȲ

2008³â 1¿ù±îÁö ÁøÇàµÈ IEEE 802.16mÀÇ Ç¥ÁØÈ­ ´Ü°è¸¦ º¸¸é Å©°Ô Project 802.16m System Requirements Document(SRD)¿Í Project 802.16m Evaluation Methodology Document(EMD), ±×¸®°í Project 802.16m System Description Document(SDD) ÀÛ¼ºÀ¸·Î ±¸ºÐ ÁöÀ» ¼ö ÀÖ´Ù.

2007³â 10¿ù ½ÂÀÎµÈ Project 802.16m SRD ¹®¼­¿¡´Â 802.16m Ç¥ÁØ¿¡¼­ °í·ÁÇØ¾ß ÇÏ´Â ½Ã½ºÅÛ ±¸Çö ½Ã³ª¸®¿À¿Í ¸ñÇ¥·Î ÇÏ´Â ½Ã½ºÅÛÀÇ ¼º´É ¹× Çü»ó¿¡ ´ëÇÑ ¿ä±¸ »çÇ×µéÀÌ ´ã°Ü ÀÖ´Ù.
