JSON 웹 전자서명(JWS)은 전자서명 또는 MAC을 적용한 안전한 콘텐츠를 JSON 데이터 구조를 이용하여 표현하는 방법이다. JWS 암호 메커니즘은 임의의 문자열에 무결성 보호를 제공한다. 이를 위해, 본 표준에서는 JWS의 구조, 직렬화, 메시지 서명 및 MAC 연산/검증 방안 등을 명세한다. 이 표준과 함께 사용하는 암호 알고리즘 및 식별자에 대한 기술은 별도의 JSON 웹 알고리즘 표준에 정의되어 있다. 관련되는 암호 기능은 별도의 JSON 웹 암호 표준에 정의되어 있다. |

JSON Web Signature (JWS) is a means of representing content secured with digital signatures or Message Authentication Codes (MACs) using JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) data structures. The JWS cryptographic mechanism provides integrity protection for arbitrary strings. For this reason, the standard specifies the structure of JWS, serialization, message signing, and MAC operation / verification scheme. Cryptographic algorithms and identifiers for use with this specification are described in the separate JSON Web Algorithms (JWA) specification. Related encryption capabilities are described in the separate JSON Web Encryption (JWE) specification.
