이 표준은 스마트카드와 바이오인식이 결합된 단일화된 형태에 있어서, 바이오인식 정보가 스마트카드에 저장되는 형태인 Store-on-card, 스마트카드에서 비교가 수행되는 형태인 Comparison-on-card, 스마트카드에 바이오인식 센서가 내장되어 바이오인식 정보 취득, 저장 및 비교가 이루어지는 System-on-card 형태로 나눈다. 인증서를 내장하여 전자서명 기능을 제공하는 지의 여부에 따라 2가지로 나누어서 응용 프레임워크를 제시한다. 또한 각 응용 모델에서 필요로 하는 요소를 설명하고, 각 응용 모델에서의 개인 인증 절차를 기술한다. |

The standard provides the definition of the biometrics-on-card in a unified format, such as store-on-card, which is a form in which biometric information is stored in the smart card, comparison-on-card in which biometric information is compared in the smart card, system-on-card in which a biometric sensor is embedded in a smart card to acquire, store and compare biometric information. The application framework is divided into two categories depending on whether or not the electronic signature function is provided by embedding the certificate. It also describes the elements required for each application model and provide the procedures of personal authentication.
