이 표준에서 정의하는 분산 식별자는 검증 가능하며 분산 디지털 신원을 가능하게 하는 새로운 타입의 식별자이다. 분산 식별자는 모든 주체(사람, 조직, 사물 등)를 식별하는 식별자로 사용될 수 있다. 특히, 중앙화된 등록소, 신원 제공자 또는 인증 기관과 분리될 수 있도록 설계되어 분산 식별자 주체가 다른 당사자의 허가를 요구하지 않고 분산 식별자에 대한 통제권을 증명할 수 있다. 분산 식별자는 분산 식별자의 주체를 분산 식별자 문서와 연결하여 주체와 관련된 신뢰할 수 있는 상호 작용을 허용하는 URL이다. 분산 식별자 문서는 분산 식별자의 통제자가 분산 식별자의 통제권을 증명할 수 있는 일련의 메커니즘을 제공하는 암호화 자료, 검증 방법 또는 서비스 엔드포인트를 표현할 수 있다. 서비스 엔드포인트는 분산 식별자의 주체와 연관된 신뢰할 수 있는 상호 작용을 가능하게 한다. 본 표준은 분산 식별자의 일반적인 구문과 데이터 모델 및 분산 식별자와 관련된 분산 식별자 문서에 대한 4가지 기본 CRUD(create, read, update, deactivate) 작업을 수행하기 위한 일반 요구사항을 정의한다.

영문 내용요약

DIDs defined in this standard are a new type of identifer that enables verifable decentralized digital identiy. DID can be used as identifiers to identify al subjects (people, organizations objects etc.). In particular, it is designed to be separated from centralized registries, identiy providers or certificate authorites so that the subject of the DID can prove control of the decentralized identifer without requirng permision from any other party. DID are URLs that asociate a DID subject with a DID document alowing trustable interactions asociated with that subject. DID document can expres cryptographic material, verifcation methods, or service endpoints, which provide a set of mechanisms enabling a DID controler to prove control of the DID. Service endpoints enable trusted interactions asociated with the DID subject. This standard defines the general syntax and data model for DIDs and the requirements for performing the four basic CRUD (create, read, update, deactivate) operations on the DID document asociated with the decentralized identifer.
