본 표준안은 SS7 MTP3-사용자 적용부 (M3UA)를 언급한다. M3UA는 SCTP기반의 IP망에서 MTP3 사용자 신호메시지를 전달하기위해 IETF SIGTRAN WG에서 정의되었으며, 3GPP, MSF, ITU-T등 차세대 All-IP망을 표준화중인 단체에서는 기존 SCN망과의 연동 프로토콜로 M3UA를 기본 프로토콜로 채택하였다. 이 프로토콜은 Signaling Gateway(SG)가 MTP3 인터페이스를 제공할 경우 SG와 Media Gateway Controller(MGC), IP기반 DB 간에 사용하고 IP기반 응용서버간에도 사용하기 위함이다. M3UA는 IP망과 SCN망간 seamless한 연동을 제공함으로써 MTP3사용자부가 하부 전달망에 관계없이 동작하도록 지원한다. IP망의 MGC, DB, AS들은 M3UA계층위에 MTP3 사용자부(ISUP, SCCP)를 제공하여 SCN망으로부터 IP 패킷망으로 트래픽을 유도할 것이다.

영문 내용요약

This document describes SS7 MTP3-User Adaptation Layer(M3UA). M3UA defines a mechanism for supporting the transport of MTP3 user message over IP using Stream Control Transmission Protocol(SCTP). The 3GPP, MSF, ITU-T standardization unit that work on standardizing the next generation ALL-IP network have already selected M3UA protocol as the basic protocol for interworking with legacy SCN. This protocol may be used between a Signaling Gateway(SG) and a Media Gateway Controller(MGC), IP-based DB and between two IP-based application server. M3UA supports a seamless interworking between the SCN and IP network. So, MTP3 user part(ISUP, SCCP) can operate regardless of the lower transport network. The MGC, IP-based DB and IP-based application server provides the MTP3 user part over M3UA. As result, the SCN traffic shall be migrated to the IP-based packet traffic.
