The functional architecture of SDH transport networks is described using the generic rules defined in ITU-T Recommendation G.805. The specific aspects regarding the characteristic information, client/server associations, the topology, the connection supervision and protection switching of SDH transport networks are provided in this Standard. The application of various mappings is also included.
