This document defines IETF RFC 3623, Graceful OSPF Restart. Normally, if one or two router in the OSPF network malfunctions, the whole OSPF network topology is affected which as loss of communication in the whole network. This document defines the method to avoid that problem by minimizing the effect of small network failure. This document defines the operation of the restarting router and the helper neighbor router.
