This standard provides an overall overview of edge cloud and defines its logical components, including physical resources, resource pools, and lightweight cloud services. It also describes lightweight virtualization technologies such as containers and lightweight hypervisors, flexible service composition through service decomposition and modularization, and methods for integrated service delivery through interworking with core and regional clouds. The functional requirements cover management of physical resources, dynamic allocation and monitoring of resource pools, network and storage operation, provisioning of lightweight services, and security considerations.
