본 표준은 건물형 클라우드 데이터 센터 구축을 위한 참조모델을 제시하였다. 건물형 데이터센터는 건물형은 건축물에 모듈화 개념을 적용하여 구축하는 것으로 기존의 건축물의 구조 및 평면도에 따라 모듈의 형태와 크기가 영향을 받는다. 따라서 이와 같은 건물의 제약을 반영하여 건물형 클라우드 데이터센터의 면적, 랙수, 전력 밀도, 소비전력, 그리고 냉각 및 냉동기 용량을 제시함에 따라 사용자가 현장에서 실제 클라우드 센터를 구축하는 데 참조할 수 있도록 구성하였다.

Cloud data centers can be classified into three types: building type, which utilizes the space of the existing building; container type, which uses typical independent module space; and pre-fabricated type, which possesses the in-between characteristics of building and container types. This standard suggests objectives, concepts and components, and reference models of cloud data centers based on each characteristic. Also, it provides detailed information such as space, number of racks, power density, and HVAC capacity.
