¿µ¹®³»¿ë¿ä¾à For data applications through packet networks like Internet, user's perception of
the level of service quality depends on various factors as follows:
1) End-to-end performance of packet networks in terms of parameters related
with network design and traffic load: for example, connectivity, packet loss
and delay, packet transfer capacity etc. Network performance is the core
ingredient of end-to-end delivery performance.
2) Dependency of data service on network (e.g., the number of packets to
complete the corresponding service transactions, flow control for data delivery
etc.) and other network elements participating in the corresponding service
(e.g., DNS server etc.)
3) Performance of equipment and facilities that support the service but are out of
control of network operator(s) (e.g., user device and host etc.)
4) Characteristics of user's tasks and the level of interactions between user and
the corresponding services
Network designer should consider these factors to guarantee a certain level of
user's satisfaction. It is desirable to include as many factors as possible in the
models for data service quality. Once one succeeds in estimating the service
delivery performance, one is able to develop a perceptual model to interpret the
end-to-end performance as real service quality that users experience.
This Recommendation assumes readers have some knowledge about the key
factors mentioned above. This Recommendation will be a basic tool or framework
to measure and estimate end-to-end performance of data services.
