| 한글내용요약 | 모든 XML(Extensible Markup Language) 문서는 XML 문서 집합의 한 부분인데, 이 집합은 어느 응용 프로그램 맥락에서 논리적으로 동등한 그러나 XML 1.0과 XML 이름공간 표준이 허용하는 구문 변경에 근거하여 외형적 표현에 있어 서로 다른 XML 문서들로 이루어진다. 본 표준은 허용되는 변경을 감안하는 XML 문서의 정규형인 외형적 표현을 생성하는 방법을 기술한다. 몇 가지의 특이한 경우에 관한 제한을 제외하고는, 두 문서가 동일한 정규형을 가질 경우 그 두 문서는 주어진 응용 프로그램 맥락에서 논리적으로 동등하다. 두 문서가 서로 다른 정규형을 갖지만, 어떤 일반화된 XML 명세도 기술할 수 없는 응용 프로그램 고유의 동등성 규칙에 근거하여 주어진 문맥에서 동등할 수 있음을 유념하라.
본 문서는 W3C/IETF 의 Canonical XML Version 1.0 을 근거로 한 정규 XML 버전 1.0 국내 표준을 명세한다. |

| 영문내용요약 | Any XML document is part of a set of XML documents that are logically equivalent within an application context, but which vary in physical representation based on syntactic changes permitted by XML 1.0 and Namespaces in XML. This specification describes a method for generating a physical representation, the canonical form, of an XML document that accounts for the permissible changes. Except for limitations regarding a few unusual cases, if two documents have the same canonical form, then the two documents are logically equivalent within the given application context. Note that two documents may have differing canonical forms yet still be equivalent in a given context based on application-specific equivalence rules for which no generalized XML specification could account.
