¿µ¹®³»¿ë¿ä¾à | This standard defines a precision time protocol for precisely synchronizing the real-time clocks of distributed devices connected to a redundant ring topology packet network.
The network used in this standard is a redundant ring topology and allows looping of the message within the ring. The message returned to the device that sent the message is discarded by the sending device, allowing the cycle of the message only once. The main feature of this standard is to utilize the message looping feature, and it can reduce traffic congestion more than IEEE 1588 E2E(End-to-End) time synchronization in a ring network. This can contribute to reducing the worst-case end-to-end delay of time-critical industrial networks. This standard defines new PTP messages M1 and M2 required to enable time synchronization in ring packet networks. Then, the procedure for calculating the time difference by exchanging these two types of messages between the PTP leader and the PTP follower and the state transition machine of each device are presented. |
