1 Purpose of Standard

The standard is to specify the accessibility requirements of the authoring tool used to create accessible web content.

In order to specify the accessibility requirements of the authoring tool, it is necessary not only to consider the accessibility of the authoring tool itself, but also to include the contents created by using the authoring tool, such as accessibility functions of the web contents.

Accessible authoring tools enable authors with different capabilities to author and distribute accessible content. In addition, it is possible to retrieve already created content, edit it, and save it. In this process, authors can add or edit accessibility features to their content.

Although the standard configuration distinguishes between the accessibility requirements of the authoring tool itself and the requirements for authoring the accessible content, in fact, it is difficult to distinguish these two requirements when actually creating content using the authoring tool.

For example, when some online user is creating content and another user is using the content to perform additional tasks, content that has already been created used to be integrated with other users' content. In this process, problems of accessibility of authoring tools in the process of creating contents and accessibility of contents created by other users may cause deterioration of overall accessibility of online activities.

For this reason, the standard consists of a series that presents accessibility requirements related to authoring tools.

2 Summary

The standard is a revision of the 'Korean Web Authoring Tool Accessibility Guidelines 1.0' issued in December 2006.

The standard consists of series; part 1 defines a framework for accessible authoring tools, part 2 defines the user interface accessibility requirements of authoring tools, and part 3 covers authoring tool requirements for authoring accessible content.

The user's diverse capabilities considered in the standard include deaf, cognitive, neurological, mental, speech, and visual impairments.

The standard consists of the following series:
¡ª Part 1: Framework
¡ª Part 2: User Interface Accessibility Guidelines
¡ª Part 3: Content Accessibility Guidelines
