¿µ¹®³»¿ë¿ä¾à The Wearable computer is one of major technologies to make ubiquitous
computing environment feasible. Various researches on the wearable computer are
currently being carried out. One of such efforts is to build a communication network
on a clothes and to connect various devices embedded in the clothes. A
communication network which covers a body area in the wearable computing
environment is called the WPN(Wearable Personal Network). WPN may be
implemented by using either a wire line or wireless media. WPN using wireline is
specially called the e-Textile Network.
A human wears multiple cloths such as a shirt, jacket and pants, therefore, there
may exist multiple e-Textile networks on a human body, one for each cloth.
Connecting these e-Textile networks by wired lines reduces wearability. Therefore,
connecting and integrating each of the e-Textile networks using wireless technology
is required.
For integration of WPNs, one of WPN devices should act as a gateway. WPN host
takes charge for the wireless gateway. Wireless communication technology used is
standardized in the IEEE 802.15.4 Low-Rate WPAN(Wireless Personal Area Network)
technology. IEEE 802.15.4 LR-WPAN technique is a communication technology
specialized for low-speed and low-power consuming communication environment,
and is used for a media access protocol in Zigbee and 6LoWPAN. IEEE 802.15.4 communications technology is suitable for wearable computing environment and
supports a network structure manageable by grouping many nodes.
This standard provides a mechanism to interwork the link layer protocol of an e-
Texitle network with the link layer protocol of IEEE 802.15.4.
