¿µ¹®³»¿ë¿ä¾à This standard establishes a set of special characters to be defined in 'Part 1: Detailed Reading' and provides criteria for detailed reading of Korean. The special character set is composed of special characters that can be read by a voice interface in the "KSX1001 Code System for Information Exchange ( Korean and Chinese characters)", excluding language characters such as Korean, Chinese characters, Kana, and special characters that do not have meaning, such as box drawing symbols. Select a set of special characters and define their reading pronunciation through a comparison with Unicode 15.0, which contains the special characters in KSX1001. The Korean reading standard defines Korean reading by dividing it into single reading and sentence reading.

The selection of the special character sets and the definition of the Korean reading of these sets were carried out in the following steps.

First, we compare KSX1001:2019 and Unicode 15.0 to define a set of special characters and define their Korean readings. - Once the special character set is defined, define the Korean reading based on the Korean reading data of special characters from the National Library for the Disabled and the punctuation commentary from the Korean Language Institute.
- For special characters that are not defined in the Korean reading data of special characters of the National Library for the Disabled, apply their names to the reading rules.
Second, experts with at least 5 years of experience in creating alternative materials verify the defined special character sets and Hangul readings.
- We exclude special characters that have not appeared in more than 20,000 books of alternative materials.
- Korean phonetic verification for special character sets
Lastly, we verify the reading pronunciation of Hangul for visually impaired people who rely on their hearing to use alternative materials.
- Verify and reflect feedback on the Korean pronunciation of defined special characters by blind users who have experience using e-publications and voice interfaces.

Through the above process, a set of special characters, the names of the special characters included in the set, and their Korean pronunciation are finally defined.
