이 표준은 이기종들 간의 상호운용성을 보장해주며 정보 검색을 위한 OSI 참조 모델의 응용 계층에 해당되는 프로토콜을 명세하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이 표준에 정의된 프로시저와 형식에 의하여 클라이언트는 서버에게 정보를 요청하고 이 요청에 따라 서버는 클라이언트에게 정보를 제공할 수 있다. |
