(Access) 점을 식별하는 데 사용되는 프로토콜을 정의한다. 이 표준에서 정의하고 있는 프로토콜은 다음과 같다. a) 동일 IEEE 802 LAN으로 연결된 이웃 단말로 단말의 연결성 및 관리 정보를 알림 b) 동일 IEEE 802 LAN으로 연결된 이웃 단말의 네트워크 관리 정보를 수신 c) 모든 IEEE 802 액세스 프로토콜 및 네트워크 매체와 함께 동작 d) 이웃 단말에 대한 연결 정보를 저장하는데 적합한 객체 정의 및 네트워크 관리 정보 체계를 설정 e) IETF 물리토폴로지 관리정보베이스(MIB, Management Information Base) (IETF RFC 2922 [B9])와 호환성 제공 |

| 영문내용요약 | The Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP) specified in this standard allows stations attached to an
IEEE 802 LAN to advertise, to other stations attached to the same IEEE 802 LAN, the major capabilities provided by the system incorporating that station, the management address or addresses of the entity or entities that provide management of those capabilities, and the identification of the station’s point of attachment to the IEEE 802 LAN required by those management entity or entities. The information distributed via this protocol is stored by its recipients in a standard Management Information Base (MIB), making it possible for the information to be accessed by a Network Management System (NMS) using a management protocol such as the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). |
