The purpose of this recommendation is to improve availability and reliability of the optical transport network (OTN) by performing the line protection switching for the optical channel data unit (ODU) in the optical transport hierarchy (OTH). The ODU protection switching, which is linear protection switching based on the P2P, has 1+1 and 1:n protection types for which this recommendation describes switching control protocol, switching request types and their switching priorities. |
