¿µ¹®³»¿ë¿ä¾à The standard defines the MAC layer technologies that specifies the parameters for pre-association queries between wireless networks and devices. By facilitating a rich exchange of information between the wireless access point and the user¡¯s device, users can swiftly and effortlessly discover what types of services are supported before making the decision to connect. Simplifying the service discovery process streamlines the network selection process, thereby elevating the end user experience.
Storing and caching available services with access points permits operators to differentiate their service offerings from those of market competitors in the same locality, opening the door to potential revenue generation opportunities.
Specifically, it incorporates the following methods:
- Container MAC protocol to carry upper layer service discovery protocols (e.g. UPnP, Bonjour)
- Provisioning and configuration of services in the access point using a logical element of Service Transaction Proxy
- Universal identification of services using a hash name
- Provide service attributes (e.g. 3D printer capability or point of sale service)
- Supporting both request/response or broadcast-based service discovery
