Furthermore, it is based on the surmise that the existing metadata of the data set to be evaluated are incomplete and inaccurate. In data profiling, metadata are reverse-engineered for actual data, and compared with the existing metadata to generate more perfect and correct metadata. The repetition of this process improves the accuracy and completeness of the metadata. Moreover, the metadata determined through this process is arranged in the form of a data profile, which forms the basis of establishing data rules.
