The main contents of the report are two-fold:
First, the key updates on the circumstances associated with WiBro industry are introduced. The latest status of the industry is addressed, covering all aspects of the ecosystem and value chain of wireless telecommunication sector, such as the current business situation of domestic WiBro operators, small-to-medium-sized equipment manufacturers, and the market environment for mobile device vendors and their strategic movements.
Secondly, the progress that has been recently achieved by WiMAX Forum is mentioned. While the existing technology profile formerly established based on “IEEE 802.16e” Standard were gradually losing the forward momentum, mainly due to WiMAX technology’s falling out of the competition against LTE camp, the core members of the Forum came up with the new profile termed Release 2.1 which effectively opens up a brand-new evolutional path by incorporating 3GPP TDD technology within the context of WiMAX standard. With this bold movement, the Forum successfully relieved the wide-spread anxiety of the member companies on the future of WiMAX industry.
Based on these researches, the forecast on the probable courses of technological development in the future as well as the most desirable migration paths for the domestic WiBro industry is given.
