기업과 조직들은 공개 소프트웨어와 기타 소프트웨어 패키지들을 광범위하게 사용하고 있고 재사용하고 있다. 라이선스와 관련된 준법성은 각각의 조직들이 독자적으로 수동 혹은 자동 검증에 의해 관련된 라이선스 확인을 포함하여 수행하는 실사와 일련의 분석활동을 필요로 한다. 소프트웨어 개발팀들은 전 세계에 걸쳐 동일한 공개 소프트웨어 패키지를 사용하지만 분석 활동의 결과를 공유하거나 분석에 있어서 협업하기 위한 인프라가 부족하다. 그 결과 많은 그룹들이 중복 정보와 이중 노력을 초래하는 동일 작업을 수행하고 있다. SPDX 워킹그룹은 소프트웨어 패키지의 정보 정확성을 개선하고 시간절약을 목적으로 소프트웨어 패키지에 대한 정보와 관련 내용들이 수집되고 공통의 서식으로 공유되기 위해 정보교환 서식을 만들게 되었다. SPDX 문서는 사용을 위한 라이선스와 SPDX 파일의 특정 버전을 가진 분석결과에 관련된 생성정보, 패키지정보, 라이선스정보, 파일정보와 검토자 정보로 구성된 메타 데이터이다.

영문 내용요약

Companies and organizations are widely using and reusing OSS and other software packages. Compliance with the associated licenses requires due diligence and careful analysis of performed activities on the part of each independent organization using the packages. While software development teams across the globe use the same open source packages, little infrastructure exists to facilitate collaboration and/or sharing of the analysis results. As a result, many groups are duplicating efforts and performing redundant work. The SPDX working group seeks to create a data exchange format so that information about software packages and related content may be collected and shared in a common format with the goal of saving time and improving data accuracy of software packages.

SPDX Document Information is meta data that consists of creation, package, license, file and reviewer information which is used to compare analysis results with a specific version of the SPDX file and license for use.
