이 표준에서는 위성통신 인프라 구축에 필요한 위성통신시스템 규격을 정의한다. 이를 위해, 본 표준에서는 위성통신 필요성 및 제공 서비스, 위성망 접속방식 및 시스템 성능규격을 포함한 위성통신 인프라 요약, 중심지구국(Hub Station, 이하 중심국) 으로부터 다수의 단말국(Remote Terminal)으로 정보를 전달하는 순방향링크(Forward Link)와 다수의 단말국으로부터 중심국으로 정보를 전달하는 역방향링크(Return Link)의 물리계층 규격, 위성통신 그물망(Mesh) 데이터 구조 및 제어 프로토콜을 포함한 단말국의 연결 및 해제 절차와 위성전송 프로토콜을 담당하는 매체접속제어 계층 규격에 대해 기술한다. |

The standard defines the specification of satellite communication system for establishing satellite communication infrastructure. For this purpose, it defines a forward link for transferring information from a central station (Hub Station) to remote terminals, a return link for transferring information from remote terminals to a central station. And a connection and release procedure of remote terminal, and a medium access control (MAC) layer responsible for a satellite transmission protocol will be described.
