본 표준에는 미들웨어의 호환성이 보장되지 않는 케이블사업자의 플랫폼간에 가입자 단말기의 재사용을 가능하게 하는 기술요구사항을 포함하고 있다. 기존의 공통 다운로드 코드 버전에서는 사업자 식별 정보를 포함하고 있지 않다. 그러므로, 가입자 단말기가 완벽한 미들웨어의 호환성이 보장되지 않는 다른 사업자 영역으로 이전 하여 서비스 할 경우, 기존의 공통 다운로드 방식으로는 이전한 지역에서 사용되고 있는 미들웨어로 업그레이드 되지 못 하는 경우가 발생할 수 있다. 본 표준에서는 공통 다운로드 코드정보에 사업자 식별 정보를 추가하는 방식이 제시 되어 있다.

영문 내용요약

The goal of this standard is to help subscriber terminals to assure middleware compatibility between the various platforms of cable broadcasting system operators. In order for this goal to be effectively achieved, this standard additionally defines a system operator descriptor in the code version table defined in the OpenCable Common Download specification. The system operator identification descriptor is allocated a unique ID value for each cable broadcasting system operator.
In case that a subscriber terminal is moved to the network of another system operator, it can download the suitable software easily by using the system operator identification information and with the new software, it can properly operate on the new service environment.
