AIS는 자신의 위치, 속도, 항로 및 기타의 정보를 VHF채널을 이용하여 타 선박 및 해안국과 자동으로 송수신할 수 있도록 정보의 형식과 동기 방식 및 정보 갱신율에 대하여 정의한다. AtoN AIS 는 선박에 탑재된 AIS 장비와 같이 GPS를 사용하여 고정도의 위치를 측정하고, 메시지 내에 위치 정보를 포함하여 AIS가 탑재된 선박으로 송신할 수 있어야 하며, 전파 통달 범위 내에 있는 AtoN AIS으로부터 해상 정보를 수신하고 네트워크를 통하여 운용 관리 센터로 전송되어야 한다.

AtoN AIS은 항로 표지 시설에 적용하여, 주변을 항해하는 선박들에 대한 항해 정보를 수집하고 선박들에게 안전 항로 및 항해 정보를 제공하는 전자식 항로 표지 시스템이다. 부가적으로 해상 정보의 수집, 운용 감시 및 제어를 수행하기 위하여 제어 감시 모듈과 AIS 채널을 이용한 통신 프로토콜은 육상국-항로 표지, 선박-항로 표지, 항로 표지-항로 표지 간에 정보를 교환하여 해상에서의 선박 통항 관리를 지원하는 필수적인 기술 요소이다.

영문 내용요약

AIS defines the style of information, synchronization method, data reporting rate to receive and transmit his own location, speed, sea route and other information about other vessels equipped with automatic identification system and base station(coastal base stations) automatically by using VHF channel.
AtoN of AIS has to measure the location of high definition by using GPS with AIS installed in vessel, to transmit much information including location information within the message to other vessel which has AIS equipment, and to receive sea information from AtoN of AIS within radio-communication range and transmit the information to management & supervision center through network.

A.The function to transmit not only domestic AtoN of AIS information, but also information received from other AtoN of AIS within radio-communication range to management & supervision center through network.

B.The function to get year-round information from sailing ships as well as transfer it to management & supervision through network.

AtoN of AIS is applied to sea route indication facilities, and it is as electronic voyage indication system which not only acquires voyage information about vessel sailing nearby, but also provides safe route and voyage information to ships, and telecommunication protocol to perform sea information collection, management supervision and control additionally is an essential technical element that supports of ships going and coming ports at sea by exchanging information between land station- sea route sign to sea route sign-ship to ship.
