본 표준은 기존 인터넷과 광대역통합망(BcN), IMS 환경에서 요구되는 IPTV 2 단계 서비스를 제공하고자 할 때 요구되는 요구사항들을 정의한다.
본 표준은 ITU-T에서 정의한 Y.1901 “Requirements for the support of IPTV services” 표준에서 국내 환경에 맞게 내용을 수정하여 정의한 표준이다.

This standard is a specification for requirements of IPTV service which defines IPTV service requirements in the following aspects.
- General requirement to identify IPTV service concept
- QoS and performance aspect to provide advanced IPTV
- Security requirement to provide service protection for stable IPTV service and contents protection to prevent misuse of IPTV contents
- Network aspect to includes network functionality and network service for transmitting IPTV service
- End-system and home network requirements
- IPTV service middleware, IPTV applications, and IPTV contents management requirements
- Public interest related requirements
This specification defines requirements to provide IPTV service 2.0 in legacy Internet, BcN, and IMS environments.
This standard is based on ITU-T Y.1901 “Requirements for the support of IPTV services” with various changes for adaptation to domestic environment.
