International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities (IALA) provides various recommendations and guidelines of shore and harbour based serving VTS. Based of these IALA documents, this standard presents important considerations to implement and manage VTS in inland waters. Specifically, features of inland VTS with respect to ships, crew, equipment and systems are described. Also, IALA VTS guidances on legal frameworks, system implementation, operation, communication, auditing, assessing, information management, data model, and training are addressed. Moreover, the further considerations are explained to apply these guidances to the inland VTS.
